Who Is the Program For?
Professional Year Program is designed to provide overseas graduates with industry-relevant skills and educate them about skilled migration opportunities in Australia.
1. Recent International Graduates
Completed an eligible Australian qualification and want structured support to transition into the workforce through formal training.
2. Graduates in Approved Fields
PY is only offered to IT and Engineering graduates under currently DHA approved Professional year frameworks.
3. Temporary Graduate (485) Holders
Applicants holding or eligible to hold a 485 visa who wish to have Australian workplace exposure post-study.
4. Planning Skilled Migration
Overseas students who wish to be eligible for skilled migration and know if doing a PY makes them eligible under points test.

Professional Year Program is only offered in fields listed by the Department of Home Affairs aligned with skilled occupations.
Information Technology (IT)

Eligibility Criteria
There are eligibility requirements which must be met for nationality, visa, and participation set by DHA and designated institutions.

- Valid Visa HoldersNeed a visa that allows full work rights in Australia, such as the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
- Recent Study CompletionQualification completed within the timeframe specified by the authorised Professional Year provider.
- English Language AbilityShow satisfactory English language skills through tests such as IELTS or PTE Academic.

Not even a completed Professional Year can guarantee migration points. You will need to satisfy all requirements at the time of your application for a skilled visa.

Eligible Field And Occupation
